Full Review of Micromax Bolt A35 : Advantages and Disadvantages


Micromax Bolt series has got the new member A35, which is 4.2k device and is powered by 1500mAh battery and runs on Android v2.3.5 Gingerbread. Micromax is launching cheaper Android devices and getting most publicity for their every Android powered handset. Let’s have a look on this new Bolt A35 Android powered handset.

Build And Design

Micromax Bolt A35

Build of the A35 is same as other budget handsets while the design that A35 got seemed like 10k smartphone. The thing that attract more is the textured matte finished back panel. At the front the handset has the three Android powered capacitive keys and secondary or front camera above the 4-inch display.
Volume rockers to the left while right side is left plane and power key is situated at the top along with the 3.5 jack. The back panel has the 2MP camera and Speaker Grille on the matte finished textured panel which enables good grip to the hand while holding the handset.

A35 have the TFT display of 4 Inches and the WVGA Resolution of 480 x 800 Pixels and have the 65 K Colors. Display of the A35 is fine and has nice brightness and contrast. In short words display of the phone is fine for the entry level Smartphone.
Under bright Sunlight the display seemed fine when brightness tuned to maximum.


A35 support both the rear and the front cameras of 2 Megapixel and VGA respectively. The rear camera captures fine still shots but have smudges in indoor shots. You cannot have HD camera for entry level device but A35 supports fine features like Zoom Level – 8, Brightness Level – 6, Multi-shot and Night Mode.

Video capturing available in A35 is of VGA resolution at 12fps. While the front VGA camera has average performance.

Hardware And Performance

Hardware of A35 contains the 1 GHz Cortex-A5 and Mali-300 Graphics. Since the RAM available is of 256MB you cannot have the multitasking capability more than 2-3 apps at a time. Internal storage of 160MB does not lets you to have all the apps that you need in Android OS. 1500 mAh battery allows the mediocre time of 2 hours of Video playback and 4 Hours of Talk time.

Bolt A35 Review The performance of the device seemed perfect for the entry level device, as you can play games like Angry Birds with ease and got 480p video playback support. While the available Video and Audio codec are less including the WAV, MP3, MIDI, MP4 and 3GP. For increasing the support you need to install the player from Store or install offline with .apk files.


With the Dual SIM configuration the operating frequency of A35 includes GSM – 900, 1800. 3G on the handset is debarred while you get the 2G with EDGE and GPRS. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, micro USB, v2 for USB connectivity, Tethering with Wi-Fi Hotspot are available extra connectivity features. The basic Bluetoothv2.1 with Supported Profiles of A2DP, HSP, and HFP is available for wireless data transfers.

OS and UI

A35 has the Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread running with the stock UI. While the OS update to Android v4 ICS will not be possible because of the low amount of RAM. The extra customization with live wallpaper has been given by the company with some of the preinstalled apps and feature which includes Games, Swipe, World Clock, Multiple Alarm, Calculator, Calendar, Auto Power On or Off, Incoming Call Guard and Important Apps like M! Live, Google Play Store, M! Store, M! Zone+, Facebook.


Micromax A35 bolt is the new entry level Android powered Smartphone, and it is already clear that it will allow only the basic features. All the handsets available at 4k have the features lower than A35, so the company has cleverly tried to have the flagship over budget smartphones.

    In brief Don’t buy this phone. You will not able to play any famous Android games and also will not able to play most video formats.
