Build and Design

Lava Xolo A500

Build of the device is nice with similar design of budget handsets, more similar to A110. The device has the glossy front holding the 4-inched capacitive touch screen along with the three Android Keys of Tabs, Home and Return. Upper the display you will see the front facing VGA camera along with couple of sensors. The power button and volume rockers are on the right and left sides while 3.5mm jack on top and micro USB port at the bottom.
Back panel contains the matte finish and houses the 5MP camera along with LED flash and Speaker grille at down side. A500 has the 63.5x124x11.8 mm dimension and Weights 122.6 g, so it cannot be considered the slimmest phone but has the perfect textured.

A500 houses the 4 Inched TFT display of WVGA Resolution of 480 x 800 Pixels. Display of A500 is fine performing and good for the 7k price. Display contains the 16m colors, the color saturation, Hue and temperature these all are fine and the viewing angles of A500 is also mediocre.
Outdoors or under bright sunlight the display is fine when you have tuned the brightness full or switched the auto brightness feature comes with the light sensors.

Xolo A500 ReviewThe 5MP rear camera with LED flash has great still shots while in indoors as well as outdoor and also captures mediocre at low-light conditions. The still shots has fine quality with the balanced brightness, contrast and Saturation. Video shoots taken from the rear camera is of 720p resolution with great brightness and the output comes in 3Gp format at 16fps. Extra features of Auto focus and geo tagging increases the camera productivity.

Front camera is essential for the Android powered device so the A500 fulfills the need and gives you a VGA camera, which shoots average videos and click decent photos and fine for video calls at this price.

Hardware And performance

A500 has been awarded with the great hardware including the fast 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual Core processor supported by Adreno 203 which allows the HD game support. While with the 512MB RAM and 4GB of ROM the device can handle all the daily works or casual apps. Since it is not the high end device so you are allowed HD video playback or high-end gaming.
Testing the performance of A500 through conducting the Benchmark tests we found following results:

Quadrant Benchmark: 2488.

Antutu Benchmark: 6032.

Nenamark2: 26.7fps.

Linpack: Single 42.

Linpack: Multi 72.

Connectivity And Call quality

Xolo A500 Review

XOLO gives support of Dual SIM but the 3G is only provided with the SIM 1, the SIM 2 has got the 2G networking. 2G gets EDGE and GPRS support and 3G is with 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n offers great networking.
Call quality is also fine, which has fine loudness and when switched to Loudspeaker the background noises comes into play. So over all it fine to have these features on a 7k device.

A500 is packed with Li-Ion, 1500 mAh battery giving you the Talk Time about 8-9 hours while allows video streaming up to 2.5- 3 hours. The browsing time over Wi-Fi or in 3G mode differs slightly giving the time around 5- 5.5 hours.
The Standby Time of A500 is 310 hours which is enough if you are travelling carrying the device.

Multimedia And Gaming

Negative Point: Low RAM

The main fact that sucks is the low RAM which is prominent over the Dual Core processor or the amazing graphics and makes thing worse. Since with the low RAM you cannot play the 720p videos smoothly, and if you don’t have money and this fact makes you disgraces then you can swap the SD card in A500 or increasing RAM with the help of your MicroSD card. Since all devices of low range have the same problem but it is one of solution of it.
A500 initially supports the MP4, 3GPP, HD while you can increase this support by installing different player from Play Store.
While the gaming can be done in A500 is only the casual gaming including the Temple Run, Angry birds all similar ones. Some of the HD games are playable on the handsets, and this is fine with the 7k device.

OS and UI

A500 has got the Android v4 ICS out of box. The UI of the handset is stock one with little difference in Home screen and the notification area. While in the customization menu company has brought some of live wallpapers and widgets.
Since it seemed like XOLO will get it update to Jelly Bean OS shortly, but it is not fixed. With the some of the additional features of Hard Keys, Smart Multi-tasking, New Screen Lock, SMS On Call Reject, Face Unlock and Horizontal Navigation makes the Phones really Smart.

Lava Xolo A500

XOLO A500 seemed great at the first look and build quality also seemed great. Among other smartphones like Micromax A89 and Karbonn A6, XOLO A500 has greater performance and looks more attractive. While these are entry level devices so you will get only the basic things and features but XOLO A500 contains the hardware and software combination of mid-end devices with only problem of memory running out.
Since in the race of features and battle of Smartphones A500 is strong competitor and best suited for the price.
