Advantages

Features Of Micromax A110 Canvas 2

Design And Build

Micromax A110 looks somewhat similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S III as well as Note II except its Home Key which actually differs at all. A110 has sleek look with the curved polished edges and having a deluxe look from all angles. A110 is the slim phone and camera is indulging outside of the backpanel which is very light and thin. The backside of phone is good with the Camera and Dual-Flash located at upper side of phone and speaker grills at placed at lower end and “Micromax” Stamped at middle.

When you the closer look at the front side there are some of the Sensors and a front VGA Camera located top side above the display and three touch buttons located down side of the display. Since the company named is located at back side so there is no name of company at the front side.
Micromax A110 Side ViewThe power button is placed on the right side, micro USB on the top along with 3.5mm jack and volume rockers on the left side of the device.

Display And Touch

5-inch screen with 5 Point Multi-touch

A110 holds a screen of 5 inches with a resolution of 854×480 pixels. Canvas 2 has got FWVGA Capacitive touchscreen which is good at the mid-ranged price and along with the IPS display the pixel density as well as color tempo of the phone is quite good. It has 262k color capacity and is a bit shiny. There is a little issue when you work under Sunlight the screen is less-visible due to no ambient light sensor.
The touch is smooth and good at work. While surfing over the whole OS and programs the touch sensitivity seemed to be good, while surfing internet through the stock Browser was also quite good. Due to the large 5-inch screen the typing is good with almost no errors.
Micromax has provided extra display feature which includes features of 5 Point Multi-touch, Touch Sensitive Controls, along with the Vivid Display which helps a lot while watching HD videos and Playing Games. AGC Sodaline Screen Protection is already present, so you don’t need any Screen protector.

Camera

Micromax A110 Superfone Camera
Canvas 2 have an 8MP rear or Primary Camera which is good enough to capture casual photos but is not intended for the professional ones. There is burst mode 16, 8, 4 shot mode and A110 can also record videos in HD of 720p resolution.  There is a bit problem in camera as it show unnatural color in case of capturing images like sometimes you got red to be pink, if this happen then simply go to settings and change hue, saturation, brightness and contrast to medium.
The Video Recording is good and at 24- 30 fps and the video is saved in 3GP format. The front camera of Canvas 2 is VGA, so you cannot imagine a good image capturing from front camera, but you get an Average image quality and average video calls.

Performance And Gaming

The performance and capabilities of A110 is awesome. With the 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM you are capable to have the 8 to 9 apps running together at a time. But there is quite lag while zooming while streaming online with default browser. The video playback on A110 was good upto we were at 720p the frame rates was good and when we move to 1080p videos the device started to stutter. This problem we was very low when we played it with the VLC player but it required to have a background processing first.
We have conducted the Benchmarking of A110 which gave good results as follows:
Micromax A110 Canvas 2 Benchmarks

  1. In Quadrant test we have got the 2718.
  2. In Antutu benchmarking the result was 5361.
  3. And in NenaMark2 was 26.9fps.

NFS Most Wanted on Micromax A110
If we see the gaming performance by A110, it was good with Asphalt 7 and Temple Run as well as Temple Run Brave, since we got an issue in NFS Most Wanted as we required to free up some of RAM by removing some apps, because the game gave lower fps in highest setting. But the game perform correctly, since there was very much apps installed in the device. The Gravity sensors and the response on every game was good and it seemed to have very good performance in

Battery

The battery backup is good in case of A110 from A100. A110 have a 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery. We have tested that the battery backup of A110 was 3 Hours with the Data on 3G networking and the Talk Time on 2g with data on was upto 4.45 hours while Surfing through Internet the battery drops in 5 Hours. Having Music or watching Videos it goes from 5 Hours to 2.5 hours respectively.
When the battery gets fully charged the LED notification indicator turns green from red. The phone takes up to 4 hours to fully charge which is actually very slow, however if you charge it with higher watt charger like of iPhone or of Nexus device it will take 1.5 hours to 2 hours which is half of time taken by Micromax Charger.

Data, Call Quality And Messaging

The Data and media streaming on web was awesome on 3G with Aircel and Airtel 3G SIMS. But the networking is variable or we can say is pretty weak.
The call quality on A110 was also good, but we did notice the change in call quality while switching it from headset to loudspeaker.
The receiving and sending of messages was hand and further more good and with the huge display you will also get the option to type with both the fingers easily.

Software/ User-Interface

Handy capacitive buttons – Menu, Home and a Back key

The Micromax Canvas 2 runs Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with the extra changes made by Micromax in case of the user interface, such as the app icons and the notification tray. The notification tray includes all the basic and stock function which toggles for settings such as Wi-Fi, Brightness, Rotation, Bluetooth, GPS, Data and profiles. Like all ICS device A110 also gives you five customizable home screens that can be filled with app shortcuts and widgets which you want. Micromax always include their own apps in their device and same is in case of A110 in which you have M! Store, and services store, M! Zone, in addition to its messaging app, HookUp, and friends locator app, M! Buddy and a few games like Fruit Devil, Cricket Fever.
A110 gives three handy capacitive buttons – a Menu key, Home button and a Back key. Long pressing the Home key opens the app-switcher for switching between open/previously accessed apps. You will mention that the UI of the device is very much responsive and smooth in comparison to any device of same price range.

Micromax A110 touch button Due to the Dual-Core processor the software processing time gets shorter and the device gives you decent responsiveness in all the fields.

Wrap-Up

Now, we came for the conclusion of Micromax A110 Canvas 2. From starting to the ending we have talked about the advantages and capability of the device as well as the disadvantages and missing part of the device. And we have pondered that since the device have Dual-Core processor and 512MB RAM then also we got lag in 1080p video playback and some problems while zooming through Video streaming online. While we can also play the HD-games and can have multiple apps running at a time with almost no problems. The battery backup and the Camera quality of the device is good except the front camera is VGA which is an average.
According to me A110 worth its price and with few problems which is negligible at all. If you want a Mid-ranged phone then A110 is the best choice you can get.
