How To Increase Internal Memory And RAM Of Any Android Phone Or Tablet

Yes you heard it right, now you can have more apps without any problem of running out of your device memory; or if are able to play HD Games on your device due to low RAM of your mobile phone or Tablet then I will guide you to increase your Android phone’s or Tablet’s RAM making your phone younger than other one.

You need only a few things for Increasing Internal memory and RAM:

  • SD card as you want but class 4 or higher SD Card will give good speed to your Phone.
  • Rooted smartphone.
  • Or Rooted Tablet (If you want to increase RAM and Internal Memory of it.)
  • SD card reader
  • Windows PC
  • An internet connection for downloading a few softwares or you can get it from somewhere else also.

Note For Users:

This method mostly worked in all Android Devices; Internal Memory Trick will work on all devices but Ram Increasing method is dependent on your phone’s ROM whether Swapping is supported by your ROM or not.(The information about your phone’s ROM, you can get it our Ram increasing section given below.)

First step you have to do is to partition your SD Card and for doing this you have to:

  • Download Mini tool Partition from here.
  • Install the application on your PC and connect your SD card to your PC with Card Reader.
  • Open Mini Tool Partition in your PC and when the wizards open click on your SD Card and select Delete option. (Not: This will format your SD Card completely mean that it will erase your data permanently, so before doing this backup your data at any place in PC or other Storage device.)
  • When the Formatting of your SD Card is completed then, you have whole of space of your SD Card as unallocated then Right click SD Card and select create option.
  • A popup box will open giving you options for making partition; select the partition as primary and file system as FAT if SD Card is less than 4GB or FAT32 if your SD Card is more than 4GB.
  • Leave about 512 MB or more space (your choice) for creating the next partition.
  • Then select done and do right click on unallocated space of your SD Card and again click create option. Select Primary partition but change the file system to Ext2, Ext3 or Ext4.

Note: (Ext2 is recommended as most ROMs work fine with it).

  • Click Apply Changes and then process goes on for the few minutes and then partition is completed.
  • Install Link2sd from Google Play or download and install the .apk format file from here to your phone.
  • On the first launch of the app, it will ask for root permissions and then, it will ask you the file system of the .ext partition that you had earlier made, choose the option as you had choose in the partitioning steps.
  •  Sort the apps according to size and start linking them and then you have done your task.

Now you have your Phone’s Internal Memory+ Ext file size made by you in your SD Card. Now you can move your apps from your device memory to SD Card and simultaneously your device speed will also be increased.

  • For increasing your device RAM you have to firstly download “Swapper for Root” from Google Play Store.
  • Open the app that you have downloaded now for RAM and select the amount of RAM you want to increase.
  • Let the application to create the. swp file and you have increased the ram you wanted.

Now you can have HD games and Apps which requires much amount of RAM.

  • Your phone’s or Tablet’s ROM needs to have a2sd support and SWAP Support. If you don’t know about your Phone or Tablet so much then you can search through internet typing your ROM name with “a2sd support” or “swap support” or something similar to this for more specific information about your Device’s ROM. Download swap check to see if your ROM supports swapping.
  • You might receive an error on your Android phone or Tablet saying damaged SD card on your phone or Tablet then don’t worry about it re-partitioning will solve the problem.

You can join our Foum for any question or support. Our staff will reply you as soon as possible.

    • Ashish Mehra

Partition the sd card while keeping a card on your phone. If you are partitioning at using external reader and then add to the device, you might not see the partition.

    What i do?

  • Akash Goel

For partitioning the SD card can we use the recovery mode method and for increasing RAM can we do the following.
◦For increasing your device RAM you have to firstly download “Swapper for Root” from Google Play Store.
◦Open the app that you have downloaded now for RAM and select the amount of RAM you want to increase.
◦Let the application to create the .swp file and you have increased the ram you wanted.

  • Bucki

    hey guys

I purchased an Android 4.1 pc tablet from ebay and the seller stated 4GB ROM and 512MB RAM. Now looking at the settings I see the followings:

    0.98 TOTAL SPACE
    72.51 APPS
    0.88 Available

    – MEMORY

    32.00KB APPS
    1.57GB Available

Questions is: Where is the 512MB of RAM and where is 4GB or ROM ??!

    Please advice

    • Bucki

      Just to clarify:

      0.98GB TOTAL SPACE
      72.51MB APPS
      0.88GB Available

      – MEMORY

      1.57GB TOTAL SPACE
      196KB APPS
      1.57GB Available

      • TechnoDify

Can you please tell me the name of pc tablet which you had bought.

        • Bucki

if you go on ebay and search for: 161008712738

it will show it for ya … the device has no name :/

          • TechnoDify

As you had provided the specifications of this device, Every where it is noted that this device has 4GB of Internal Memory. I would suggest you to contact the seller from eBay and ask him for this fault.

          • Bucki

Yes I already did and he said this:

“Check the partitions and the operating system takes up part of it as in any computer that you will buy.”

So, where can I check this ???
Also, how do I know for 100% that I got 512MB of RAM and 4GB or ROM?

          • TechnoDify

I think you should Install any benchmarking tool like “Quadrant” and in that there will be an option to see “System Information” It will show all the hardware details of your device including software also.
Or simply Go to Settings>Applications>Running services >> There at below it is written about the RAM of your device.

          • Bucki

Under the Apps > Running services

*I see some apps there .. sound recoger , adobe reader etc

on the bottom I see this:

            116MB used – 891MB FREE

Now when I add them up: 1007MB meaning 1.07 GB or RAM or ROM?

ps: Also, I thought the 4.1 comes with 2 cams .. or is that a different device!

          • TechnoDify

I think you should check the details from Quadrant and If these thing is presented under “Downloaded” then it is internal Storage not about RAM. Please check with Quadrant, you can download it via Google Play.

          • Bucki

Trying to get the GOOGLE PLAY running but all it does is “Loading” and does not go into it :( .

So, in a sense the seller claims 4GB of ROM (meaning space) and from what I can see, I have about 1GB space .. and the 3GB have been used from the OS 4.1 ?? Can that even be true ???

          • TechnoDify

No! It is not true. It could be possible when you have installed many apps or your device came with pre-installed apps which had eaten the space.

          • Bucki

Yeh, device has some apps installed but only used 117MB out of 891MB. So this shows that I only got about 1GB of space … now I am wondering what happened with 3GB !

With quadrant, am I able to see exactly how much RAM and ROM it has?

          • Bucki

ok this is the details with Quadrant free version:

            OS Version 3.0.8+

            :Current freq: 1200 Mhz

            Total: 362040 kB = 3.6GB (I guess)
            Free: 7424 kB = 740MB (I think)
            Inactive: 47712 kB = ??

Anyway .. what does this tell??

          • Bucki

            WHoooly crap!!

It even says CPU 1200MHz (1.2GHz) and the seller stated as 1.5GHz!!!
Also the MEMORY is not 3.6GB but rather 362MB

Just wonder what the inactive 38472kB (385MB) is about?

          • TechnoDify

I think you should call the customer service of your device and they will solve your problem about this spec or hardware.

          • Bucki

You been very helpful, I depreciate your help!

I just installed an app called CPU / RAM / DEVICE identifier

and acccording to this app, my device is not even 1200MHz bur rather 1.008 MHz (1GHz).

            Also it says:

            FLASH MEMORY: 1.007 Mb
            Free flash memory: 856 Mb

I still cant find a concrete settings to show
RAM such as such and ROM such as such

          • TechnoDify

Geekbench 2 app is a benchmarking tool which is use to determine the processor and RAM of any device. You can use this app to know the details of your device.
But the problem is it is not free app. However, you can search on Google Play for more free system information apps like Electric Sheep’s Android System Info etc.

          • Bucki

That one costs .. looking for free ones :/ ps: this device aint going to be mine. Already set it up under the name of my little niece and dont want to use my credit details.

          • Bucki

            By the way …

Is my device able to expand the RAM and ROM in this case???!

          • TechnoDify

As we are not 100% sure whether it will help or not, but you can try the above steps to know the answer of this question.

          • Bucki

            You said:

“Your phone’s or Tablet’s ROM needs to have a2sd support and SWAP Support. If you don’t know about your Phone or Tablet so much then you can search through internet typing your ROM name with “a2sd support” or “swap support” or something similar”

So, how do I know my ROM name to start with?!

          • ılɥpɐɟ uɐɯlıɥ

may be you can try to download&instal MemoryInfo-SwapCheck from google play store, to know about your RAM and ROM

          • TechnoDify

Ya! It will show you all the details oh hardwares, softwares, sensors which are present in your device.
