Intel removes McAfee brand name, introduces Intel Security
McAfee is an Intel-owned antivirus software company which was founded by the former druggie and part-time fugitive John McAfee 20 years ago. Recently at CES 2014 in Las Vegas, Intel announced that it will be replacing the McAfee brand name for its security software with a new simple to memorize, “Intel Security.” An Intel representative revealed that, McAfee brand name will be still a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intel and the software rebranding will begin immediately. According to Intel, it will take a year to complete.
In response to this move, John McAfee told the BBC that “I am now everlastingly grateful to Intel for freeing me from this terrible association with the worst software on the planet. These are not my words, but the words of millions of irate users. My elation at Intel’s decision is beyond words.”
