Samsung is a well known and very popular smartphone manufacturing company in whole world and Micromax is popular among Indian users. From past few months, Micromax seems to be the best competitor for Samsung in Indian market. The Indian based company is showing a very good number of sales figures now a days. According to a recent reports by IDC, India is going to be the world’s second biggest smartphone market. Smartphones are getting more and more popularity these days. In India smartphone shipments in Q2 2013 are increasing 50% quarter on quarter and have nearly tripled compared to the same quarter last year. Looking on the Q2 last year shipment, around 3.5 million smartphones were shipped in Q2 2012 and now it has been increased to 9.3 million smartphones.

The low-end smartphones with a budget friendly price tag are now replacing the space of feature phones in India. After the feature phones, the Dual-SIM capable and large screen smartphones are in much demand. Devices with 5-7 inch screens accounted for 30% of the market. More and more foreign companies are entering in Indian market, but the local brands like Micromax and Karbonn has already shipped over a half of the smartphones in India during second quarter. But Samsung is still on top in Indian market with Galaxy Star and also some mid-range and even high-end smartphones including the Galaxy Note II, due to company’s zero interest Equated Monthly Installment plans.

Micromax is currently at the second position with around 2 million smartphones shipped in Indian market and it’s very popular Canvas series smartphones are getting huge popularity day by day. If it can improve it’s after sale service, then it would be India’s top smartphone manufacturing company. Anyways after Micromax the third one is Karbonn which is also good competitor for Micromax.
