After months of rumors and hype, finally Sony unveiled it’s next-generation gaming console at this PlayStation
Meeting 2013. Yes! We are talking about the fourth version of PlayStation home console, “PlayStation 4″, which going to be release in this holidays. Here in this article, we will like to cover everything which happened at the Sony PlayStation Meeting 2013 in New York City.
This whole event was made for announcement only. There were no actual demo of PS4 and no images too. Just we got to see the new Controller and lot’s of new games.
PlayStation 4 Hardware
Sony announced that the major concepts on which PS4 has been design are Simple, Immediate, Social and
Personalized. Below is the specifications of PlayStation 4 revealed at the event:
- x86-64 AMD “Jaguar” 8-core CPU
- “Enhanced” AMD next-gen Radeon GPU
- CPU/GPU on the same die
- 8 GB unified GDDR5 RAM
- On-board hard drive (no size announced)
- Blu-ray optical drive
- USB 3.0
- Bluetooth 2.1
- Gigabit Ethernet
- 802.11b/g/n wifi
- HDMI, analog video, digital optical audio
The DualShock 4 Controller
This new controller is similar to the previous leaked images. The DualShock 4 controller is called as the hybrid of PlayStation 3 controller. This new controller comes with touch-sensitive pad, which is really an interesting feature. it has enhanced and improved latency, new touchpad, a new share button, a headphone jack and a lightbar for Move-style motion control. It is black in colour.
With the new “share” button on the DualShock 4 controller, Sony has created a door to connectivity and sharing in this upcoming console. The company will partnering with Facebook and Ustream to provide it’s users a raft of options for sharing and sociality.
When you will press the “share” button while you are playing game, then it will allow you to capture video and
broadcast it to your friends. The video will upload as you continue to play. You will be also browse live games or videos of what your friends are doing at that exact moment, and the network will be designed around “real world friends.”
PS4 and Vita
Sony says that the main aim of PlayStation 4 is to dislocate gaming from the living room and allow gamers to play the same games no mater where they are. Vita is going to be the ultimate companion device for the PS4. The company also confirmed that the PS4 will not play PS3 games out of the box.
