Android N Developer Preview Now Available For Sony Xperia Z3 (Download)

Sony Xperia Z3 users, here is a great news for you. Now you can download and install the latest Android N Developer Preview on Sony Xperia Z3. So, just like the Nexus users, you can now also test Android N before others.

This isn’t the first time when Sony has released an Android N developer preview for its flagship smartphone. The company did the same during the testing phase of Android Marshmallow and now it is doing the same for Android N. Before you get too excited, let me tell you that Sony has released Android N Developer only for two models of the Xperia Z3 - D6603 and D6653. So, before downloading it, make sure you have an Xperia Z3 smartphone with model no. of D6603 or D6653.

How to install Android N Preview on Xperia Z3



  • Connect your compatible Z3 device to a computer with a USB cable.

  • Xperia Companion will open automatically

  • Make sure you have Xperia Companion version 1.1.24 or later. If not, download the latest version from here.

  • Hold down the ALT key on your computer and click on Software repair on the home screen, then follow the guide.

  • You’ll be asked to disconnect and turn off your device, then to reconnect whilst holding down the volume down key to start the software flashing.

  • You can return to factory settings at any time by connecting back to Xperia Companion and following the Software repair


The Android N Developer Preview for Sony Xperia Z3 is same as the Nexus version. Sony hasn’t made any changes to the UI, it is all stock User Interface with all the new features like multi-window, new notification drawer and more.

Please note that Developer Preview builds are for developers only. So, they contain lots of bugs. While Android Developer Previews are usually fine, but they still act weird sometime. So, we will not recommend you to flash it on your daily driver. Do it on your own risk.
