Google now rolling out Chrome OS Material Design update
Google has now started rolling out a new big Chrome OS update. As detailed by Google designer Sebastien Gabriel on Dribble, this new Chrome OS 50 update packs several Material Design elements which was spotted in different reports in the past. While these changes aren’t that big, but they are still noticeable. The edges are sharper, animations are better, and more.
Another important part of the these new design makeover is the introduction of hybrid mode. As Google explains, this new hybrid mode will make Chrome OS more better on touchscreen Chromebooks. When active, this mode will transform the screen layout to better work with your finger, making the buttons more broader to touch.
Google is also planning to bring the Material Design improvements to the Chrome web browser. But currently we don’t have any details on exactly when. As Gabriel notes, the work is in progress right now, but if you are interested then you can try it now in your Chrome browser by just opening "about:flags" and then activating "Material design in the browser's top chrome."
That is all what’s new in this update. Other features are basically bug fixes and some short improvements. Though it is Google’s very own Material Design and it looks good on Android smartphones and tablets, but on Chromebooks it looks very identical to Windows 10. I mean, the buttons and window design are almost similar to the Windows 10 OS.
Hopefully, Google will introduce some new big updates at the Google I/O 2016 next month. Just like every year, this year too, we will offer you all the latest news as it happens. So, stay tuned with us for all the important updates.
