The company on Tuesday announced that starting next month, it will offer a new six-second “Bumper” ads, which will be display in-between videos. The company says that it has designed “Bumper” ad as a better companion to the old video clips.
"We like to think of Bumper ads as little haikus of video ads — and we’re excited to see what the creative community will do with them," said YouTube's Zach Lupei in a blog post.
Seeing its duration, Google has also decided that these ads will not be skippable, meaning users will not be able to skip these Bumper ads. They will have to watch it, if they want to watch the remaining part of the video.
While the Bumper Ad is good for Advertisers who are looking to promote their product, brand or services, but it would be irritating for the viewers. But to justify its decision, YouTube says that according to research 50 percent of 18 to 49-year-olds prefer to watch videos on their mobile phone, instead of desktop.
