Scarlett Johansson’s "Ghost In The Shell" Has Generated A ControversyAhead Of Its Release



Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks recently released the first photo from their upcoming science-fiction film Ghost in the Shell. The film stars Scarlett Johansson in the lead role and has already started shooting in Wellington, New Zealand.

While we are still away from the Ghost in the Shell release date, which is scheduled for March 31, 2017, but it has already started generating controversies. As soon as the studio released the first look image of Scarlett Johansson as the lead character: Major Motoko Kusanagi, fans took Twitter to oppose the casting.

Thanks to her amazing performance in Avengers, Scarlett Johansson is well known for her role as a secret agent. But since the studio announced that they have casted Scarlett Johansson in the lead role for Ghost in the Shell, several fans have been complaining about. The reason why most of the fans are disagreeing with the decision is because the character Johansson will play is an Asian character.

Ghost in the Shell is one of the most popular Japanese media franchises. While there have been many animated feature film related to Ghost in the Shell, but this is actually the first time when the studio has decided to do a live-action film.

The story takes place in the fictional Japanese city of Niihama aka New Port City and it follows the members of a special-operations task-force called Public Security Section 9, that consist of former military officers and police detectives.
